The ADAPT methodology, used by OC in the preparation of its multimedia online training, was born from the profound knowledge of different media and, culturally, from the setting of ENI’s maintenance system in the 1970s, with the support of IBM.
Often, when we talk about technical content, we are referring to content relating to the maintenance of a machine.
Roberto del Mastro, CEO of OC, illustrates the ADAPT method: “In the 1970s, in the context of machine maintenance, the ADAPT method was based, first of all, on carrying out interviews with expert personnel, after which the electronic calculator was instructed to transform manual requests into computer procedures. IBM personnel, in short, translated the technicians’ maintenance experience for the electronic calculator.“
Today, OC applies a methodology derived from ADAPT, interviewing maintenance and operations experts. Through the interviews conducted, and following the experience gained in multimedia, we plan the choice of media and devices needed by the customer: the current “electronic computer” for the use of the content.
Let’s recap the different steps:
- maintenance and operation experts are interviewed on product specifications and problems related to after sale service and training to be resolved;
- everything translates into the choice of media and devices to use (with reference to wearable devices, QuVì holography and 4K screens);
the content is written with the most suitable tool, unlike all those who promote a rigid teaching structure. Depending on what needs to be said, therefore, the most suitable channels are chosen to transmit the experience of the experts with whom carry out the interviews”.
