Our collaborator Sabrina Riso will present a contribution entitled:
“Science in Your Pocket: demo on water purification for Grade 7 of the Integrated Science curriculum of the Republic of Kenya.”

The work presents a ready-to-use teaching demo developed in Moodle, based on the Junior Secondary School – Grade 7 curriculum and focused on the topic of “Water purification”.
It is an intercultural e-learning project that combines technology, pedagogy and sustainability, offering a practical and interactive experience for authentic learning.

The demo stands out for:

• Simulated H5P exercises, which allow students to safely practice filtration procedures, including a household filter built step by step using common materials.
• Multicultural approach, which highlights local examples and raises awareness of safety standards related to water sources.
• Modular and reusable structure, organized into units that can be adapted to different contexts and languages.
• Final Project-Based Learning activity, in which students collaborate to concretely apply the knowledge they have acquired.

During the presentation, the design choices behind the demo will be illustrated – from the learning objectives to content chunking – with particular attention to reducing cognitive load and enabling reuse and adaptation by teachers.
The session will showcase the course modules, the interactive H5P activities, and the final project, concluding with a checklist for replication and suggestions for reusing the model in other educational settings.
